Must be 21 years of age at time of employment.
Education
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent.
Citizenship
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Health
Must be in excellent health with no conditions which would restrict ability to effectively perform the duties of a Police Officer.
Vision
20 / 30 normal depth perception. Satisfactory color vision required.
Conduct and
additional requirements.
Applicant must have no felony convictions or history of criminal activity, improper conduct, or a poor driving record which affect suitability for law enforcement work.  

Any use of marijuana within the last six months, any use of cocaine within the last five years, any use of hallucinogenic drugs within the last ten years or a DWI within the last three years (with not more than one in your lifetime), will constitute an automatic disqualification for employment. 

A valid New Mexico driver's license with a good driving record is required within 30 days of hire.

  • Applications for employment are also accepted online.
  • Applicants must submit a current driving record with their application. Individuals passing a preliminary background and license check will be notified of the time and location of the testing site.
  • Applicants must pass each phase of the testing process in order to proceed to the next phase.
