Operation Allies Welcome
The City of Alamogordo is working closely with all local branches of the Military on Operation Allies Welcome. The lead for this operation is the Department of Homeland Security. Information continues to change at a rapid pace, for the most current information available, please click on the links below for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, United States Northern Command, Holloman Air Force Base, and the 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss. As more information is shared with the City of Alamogordo it will be relayed to the community.

August 29, 2021 Airmen continue to establish support facilities, while also creating additional infrastructure, for the arrival of Afghans in support of #OperationAlliesWelcome.
Fort Bliss Soldiers support Operation Allies Welcome
Soldiers assigned to the 1st Armored Division facilitate the in processing of Afghan personnel to Fort Bliss’ Doña Ana Complex in New Mexico, Aug. 26, 2021. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of State and Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for up to 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan.
