F 35 Scoping Process
Congressman Harry Teague Encourages Otero County Residents to Add Their Voice to F-35 Scoping Process
Washington, DC – Wednesday, Congressman Teague urged Otero County residents to share their thoughts on the new fleet of F-35A aircrafts and training program that could be coming to Holloman Air Force Base (HAFB). The Air Force is developing the F-35A Training Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and is seeking input from area residents on the economic and environmental factors that HAFB has on the area that should be considered. Comments both in support and in opposition will be included in the final EIS.
Members of the community can share their thoughts by filling out the Scoping Meeting Comment Form. Interested residents can download the form by visiting Congressman Teague’s website at www.teague.house.gov/F-35Form or CLICK HERE. Completed forms can be dropped off at the Alamogordo City Clerk’s Office, located in City Hall at 1376 East 9th Street, the Otero County Administrative Building at 1101 New York Avenue, or the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce at 1301 North White Sands Blvd. The deadline for submission is March 30, 2010.
The Air Force proposes to establish F-35A Joint Strike Fighter training aircraft at one or more U.S. bases, including Holloman Air Force Base. The F-35A is a multiple-role fighter but air-to-ground missions are its emphasis. It was designed to replace and supplement F-16 and A-10 aircraft.
