COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION
The Communications Division receives emergency and non-emergency calls for service and dispatches public safety resources for the City of Alamogordo. Dispatchers are trained to handle police, fire, and EMS calls.
The Communications Division is equipped with state of the art systems including a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, Centracom Series II radio console, enhanced 9-1-1, and instant playback modules for radio and telephones. The Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Dispatchers work 10-hour shifts, 4 days on, and 3 days off.
Our Dispatchers are state certified for radio dispatch and NCIC. They are trained and certified in the pre-arrival instruction protocols and can provide medical instruction to callers during these types of emergencies. All Emergency Medical Dispatchers are required to continue advanced training in these areas and maintain current CPR certification. This division is also instrumental in community 9-1-1 programs, providing structured 9-1-1 programs in the schools and emergency preparedness programs for the senior citizens of Alamogordo.
