On Friday, April 12, 2019, Agents with the White Mountain Drug Task Force, Detectives with the Alamogordo Police Department and Deputies with the Otero County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Drug Interdiction Operation on US Hwy 54 South. During the Operation, approximately 19 vehicles were stopped on various traffic violations and approximately 9 vehicles were searched. At approximately 2320 hours, a traffic stop was conducted on a Silver 2013 Chevy Impala traveling northbound towards Alamogordo. The driver of the vehicle attempted to identify himself as another person but was positively identified as 34-year-old Jacob Najera of Alamogordo, New Mexico. Jacob Najera was subsequently taken into custody for several outstanding warrants out of the 12th Judicial District Court as well as Alamogordo Municipal Court. Mr. Najera’s vehicle was ultimately seized for application of a narcotics search warrant. As a result of the search warrant, approximately 1 pound of methamphetamine, 12 grams of marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia was seized from the vehicle. Jacob Najera was additionally charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance by Possession with Intent to Distribute (1st Degree Felony), Possession of Marijuana (Petty Misdemeanor), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor) and Concealing Identity (Petty Misdemeanor).
