Residential Report Missed Pickup

The City of Alamogordo is committed to ensuring that residential solid waste collection is performed safely, reliably, and in accordance with established service standards. Southwest Disposal Corp, the City’s contracted service provider, prioritizes the safety of residents, property, and collection personnel during all collection activities.

To maintain safe operations, drivers will not service garbage containers that are overfilled, improperly placed, positioned too close to vehicles, mailboxes, or other property, or contaminated with prohibited materials such as paint or household chemical waste. These conditions present safety hazards and may result in missed collections until the issue is corrected.

While every effort is made to service all scheduled routes on time, occasional delays or inadvertent missed pickups may occur. Missed Pickups Due to Bad Weather

Severe weather conditions, including icy or unsafe roadways, may prevent collection trucks from safely accessing all service routes. In these situations, Southwest Disposal Corp may be unable to complete scheduled pickups until conditions improve. Public safety and driver safety remain the top priority, and service will resume as soon as routes can be accessed safely.

Holiday Schedule Changes 

Garbage collection services are adjusted on designated holidays observed by Southwest Disposal Corp, and regular trash collection does not occur on those days. Residents are encouraged to review the holiday collection list in advance to stay informed of scheduled service changes and avoid missed pickups.

If your normally scheduled pickup day falls on an observed holiday, collection will occur on the following day. Service for the remainder of that week will also be shifted one day later. For example, if your regular pickup day is Thursday and that day is Christmas, your trash will be collected on Friday. If your normal pickup day is Friday and Thursday was a holiday, collection will take place on Saturday.
